Countable Nouns

What is countable nouns ?

Countable nouns are nouns which we can count.

 Example :   one girl, three oranges. four apples.  
       
We can use "a" or  "an" before a countable noun.

Example :    a girl, an orange, an apple.

Countable nouns can have plural forms.

Example :


Singular (one)
Plural (more than one)
girl
girls
orange
oranges
knife
knives
apple
apples

We can use "is"  or  "are" with countable nouns.

Example :  The girl is in school.
               
                   There are ten oranges in the basket.

                   That is a knife.
